Blikkenwerpers

Blikkenwerpers is a participatory art project. It gives young creators a place to create art around a social theme.

Young organizational talents are given the chance to manage an expo and everything that comes with it. Every discipline – visual art, applied art, drama, theoretical and so on – and level of experience are welcome. Each year we work around a liberal theme; in 2022 it was ‘personal freedom’, in 2023 ‘care’, and in 2024 we work around ‘boundaries’.

Besides an expo, there is also room within the project for so-called peripheral activities, think performances, music nights, poetry slams, drag shows, etc. The organizing young people are also taking charge of this.

In 2024, Blikkenwerpers takes place in Ghent, check the agenda or click ‘meer info’ the event on top of the page!

20/10: Brunch with @Mottainai (10h00-13h00)

On the last day, Mottainai is organizing a ‘zero-waste brunch’ for you. We invite you to bring one sweet (leftover fruit) and one salt (leftover vegetables) and together we will discover what delicious things we can conjure up on the table!

Our cook Andrijs will use the pieces of fruit and vegetables you bring to make a meal to end the expo. Eat with us, get inspired and join us in fighting food waste!

Mottainai is a Japanese phrase used to express regret for wasting something valuable. The organization is thinking about what a city without waste might look like. To start exploring this, Mottainai organizes zero-waste events around and with food.
